Lake Middle School is one of Denver's oldest active schools. With a long history from once being a race track for the indigenous culture that once owned the land, to being a movie set for hollywood, Lake has had a great and eventful past. Lake Middle School is in the application process for the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The International Baccalaureate organization is recognized for its international education, encouraging students to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens. With emphasis in educational technology that permeates cross curriculum, this creates an even more dynamic school model, taking our students well into the 21st century. Our mission then becomes the following.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) is designed for students aged 11 to 16. This period, encompassing early puberty and mid-adolescence, is a particularly critical phase of personal and intellectual development and requires a program that helps students participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. Learning how to learn and how to evaluate information critically is as important as learning facts. --Adopted from www.ibo.org To learn more about the International Baccalaureate curriculum and what the program has to offer our students, please visit www.ibo.org.
